IMO, the cartoons on Sesame Street during the '80's were less simplistic than the ones in the 70's. Here one example of why.

  • Yeah, I like this one because of the famous line "HEEEEYYYYYYYYYY, KERMIIIIITTTT!"

  • Al leaste he didn't run up behind Kermit saying that and slapping him on the back.

  • Back in the 70s and 80s, the cartoonists who worked for CTW still knew how to keep lessons fun without dumbing them down; this is a great example.

  • Yeah, Kermit got that kind of treatment in most of his sketches.

  • @sweetlife031 Same here. I used to be scared seeing this skit after the frog shouted "Hey Kermit" because he was screaming too loud and it was hurting my ears.

  • As a child, watching this clip always gave me the impression that we humans are decendents of frogs. And I was spooked by the "Hey Kermit!" line at the end.

  • That makes sense.

  • Thank you. I guess if that frog really was related to Kermit or one of Kermit's friends, Kermit probably would have been on this skit as a cartoon.

  • @afriendofbean

I think that the "Hey Kermit" was done pretty much for comic relief.

  • I remember in Fourth Grade Our Teacher Explained to us about "Reproducing"

By using a video like this......

  • yea y they didn't show the sperm though? that would hav been alot to explain

  • Oh Cute.

  • I know that this is a crazy question but, before the frog shouted "Heeeey Kermiiiit!", what was the reason for the screen to be going backwards little by little? If I were to take a guess why they had the screen going backwards was just to show that Kermit The Frog was not around (before the frog shouted his name, I saw that he looked on his left and right side probably to see if he can see Kermit), and the frog probably thought if he shouted Kermit's name very loud, Kermit would come by.

  • I loved seeing the frog laying her eggs too.
