Lt Colonel Arthur Alphin examines, explains, and demonstrates the differences and advantages between two rifle technologies from World War 2, the semi-automatic M-1 Garand used by the United States contrasted with older, yet superb bolt-action technologies such as the 1903 Springfield or the German 8mm Mauser.
This film was an educational training video produced by the U.S. Army sometime in the early 1990s for military history training at West Point Acadamy. Colonel Arthur "Art" Alphin is a retired American Army officer and military historian. In his dry, yet highly informative style, he covers all details of the weapon, including firing range evaluation. Alphin taught military history at West Point. Since retiring from the Army he has co-authored several books.
