This video is the conventional flight test video of a VTOL concept aircraft. The design project was to develop a VTOL aircraft, then test it in three phases: conventional flight, VTOL flight, then transitional flight. Unfortunately, due to the high demands of the project and such a short time period of the class, the vehicle was never equipped with VTOL capability, although all design and analysis was completed for it to perform VTOL.
Construction Stage II would have been to install four ducted fans, two in each wing at the root. The wing roots of the aircraft were designed extremely thick compared to conventional aircraft for this very purpose.
This aircraft was manufactured by doing a wet-layup of a foam core with composite. Internal wood structures were made for the engine mount.
