In Thai cities it's quite common to see mahouts with their elephants walking the streets begging for food. More than often the animals are in a bad health condition. No wonder as they sleep next to garbage dumps, walk along congested highways, their feet hurting from the hot asphalt. Early this year the Bring the Elephant HOME foundation bought free two of these urban elephants, and in a demonstrative tour brought them from Bangkok to an award winning elephant sanctuary in Northern Thailand: the Elephant Nature Park.
