Black Keys Chapter 3

Sara: Yeah, you've been staring at that ring for like... the last 5 minutes.
Aly: And Kat is coming......
**End POV**

**Sara's POV**
Kevin shoved the ring back into his pocket about 5 seconds before Kat appeared at the bottom of the stairs. "KAT!" I shouted giving her warning before tackling her in a hug.
Kat: *laughs* SARA!
Aly: KAT! *joins the hug-tackle*
Kat: ALY! *laughs and falls onto the couch* I missed you 2!
"We've missed you too Kat! Thank god you finally came home" Aly and I both fell onto the couch beside her.
Nick: I do believe I heard my girlfriend's voice. Stop hiding Aly.
Aly: *giggles*
Nick: *smiles and walks over to the couch to slide his hands around her neck* There you are *kisses the top of her head*
Aly: *leans her head back and kisses him back* Here I am.
I smiled at them both. Aly couldn't have been happier than when she was with Nick. They'd been dating for about 2 years now. After the first 3 months, I met his brother, Joe. .... speaking of which..... "Be right back"
Kat: He's in his room
I giggled "How do you know I'm looking for him?"
Kat: *raises her eyebrow*
"Oh shut up" I hurried up the stairs and down the hallway. His door was open a crack, so I peeked in. He was sitting on his bed with his back to the door. I pushed it open quietly and tiptoed across the room. When I reached the end of the bed, I launched myself forward and tackled him.
Joe: *spins around and catches me* I heard you coming, darling. *kisses my cheek*
I laughed again as he tossed me onto the bed next to him. "you've got to have the best ears ever. I totally didn't make a sound."
Joe: I heard you shuffling over *sticks his tongue out at me*
I glanced down and then kicked my sneakers off. "I'll remember that next time"
Joe: Next time?
"When I finally get to surprise you"
Joe: *leans over and whispers in me ear* Never going to happen
I shivered a tiny bit at the touch of his lips on my ear, but I think I suppressed it enough so he didn't notice..... maybe?
Joe: *chuckles*
Maybe not
Joe: *pulls my hair tie out so my hair falls out of the bun* Much better.
He started running his hand through my hair, teasing all of the knots out with his fingers and I couldn't remember ever feeling happier.
Joe: I have a surprise for you
I smiled. "Okay then"
Joe: Close your eyes
I closed them and heard the bed squeak as he stood up. I sat there with my legs folded in front of me and my eyes closed as I waited for him to return. I didn't even consider peeking, and I didn't feel any need to just to check that I was safe. I trusted Joe totally and completely. Then I heard his footsteps as he returned.
Joe: Ready for your surprise?
I nodded. "Yep. Can I open my eyes yet?"
Joe: Not yet.
The bed springs squeaked again and I felt the mattress sink a little to my left as he sat back down. "Now?"
Joe: Not yet.
His fingers touched mine and he started tracing lines all the way up my arm. He was barely touching me, and my heart began racing. Then his lips were pressed lightly against my ear again.
Joe: Don't worry Sara. You'll love your surprise.
"I do already" I whispered back.
He chuckled and continued trailing his fingers up my arm. I was pretty positive he could hear my heart thudding in my chest. And then I was positive he could feel it as his fingers traces lines up both sides of my neck. He stopped momentarily on my pulse and I felt his breath against the back of my neck as he chuckled again.
Joe: Not scared of me, are you?
"Never" I said as something cold dropped against my chest and a chilly chain was clasped round my neck.
Joe: Then open your eyes.
I opened my eyes and looked in the mirror on the back of his door. I first noticed the 2 of us. I was sitting with my legs crossed in the middle of his bed with my hair down. I had just gotten the highlights done again today. Brown highlights against my black hair. Then I noticed Joe. His hair wasn't straightened today, burt it wasn't nearly as curly as Nick's of Kevin's. The waves gently framed his face. His legs were still wrapped around me and I leaned back a little, pressing my back against him. Joe: Happy Birthday, love
He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer as I tried to stutter my thanks.
Joe: Shhhh.
And he turned my head and kissed me.
Best. Birthday. Ever.
