This isn't HIGHdraulic, or a slowed down video. This is real! In relative terms, this is right up there with the SPEEDY Meredith traction, and the famous RIT Brown Rocket. Enjoy!

  • Now that YouTube has a 15 minute time limit, maybe you can do a FULL video of this elevator, starting on the lowest floor, going to the highest floor, and ending at the lowest floor. I wonder if it will go a lot faster now, but fast or slow, maybe you can retake this elevator.

  • @CaptainElevator42189 Actually, Speedy is dead! lol They're replacing that one. The other 2 are already done and for the most part, run fine. They seem to have a weird controller glitch that when it goes into nudge mode, the doors only open half way at the next floor. Strange. I'll post an updated video once all 3 elevators are operating. I expect Speedy to be back in service next month, at full speed. The other 2 are very quick, I can get up to my 37th floor apartment in about 35 seconds.

  • I'm surprised that Jason hasn't updated this with more info. The day before, the control cable for this elevator actually SNAPPED and came CRASHING DOWN on top of the elevator car while a woman was using it. As a result, after quick repairs, it resumed service at a capped rate of 100fpm. According to Jason, the speed is back to normal.

  • @ElevatingBoston Good point, I'll post an update video soon. "Speedy" is moving at a normal speed now (500fpm), but is having severe door operator issues. Luckily it'll be out of its misery soon, it will be replaced probably before Xmas.

  • Tall buildings sway in heavy winds. They may have slowed it down to prevent the cables from damaging the shaft.

  • Well finally, maybe they are replacing the motor with one that goes fast, and appropiate for a high rise elevator.

  • @elevatorsonly Yes, I live here. The elevator was super slow only for a few days, its back up to its normal speed of around 500-600 fpm. However, it is having door issues. Of the 3 elevators, 1 had its equipment replaced, this one is original (only cab and fixtures were modded, 3 years ago), and the other one is about to be operational shortly. This is an Armor elevator from 1975, with TK mods. I wish they installed Otis originally, at least parts would still be available lol.

  • @ElevatingBoston He said he lives there. @jtelev is that true?

  • @dieselducy Well not so in my area.. TK and KONE run VERY good in my area - I haven't been on 1 Death trap TK or Dover yet.. Schindler and OTIS are JUNK in my area [and everywhere else], and most of those are DEATH TRAPS! KONE is VERY good, and I have been on 1 KONE death trap (at a Macy's store. Guess who owns it?)
