Featured are five of the rare 1880s to 1902 historic buildings in Harper, Kansas that The Balmer Fund, a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization is preserving for future generations against great local opposition. Harper was known in the 1880s-1890s as the "intellectual oasis of America". Balmer Fund was founded in 1994 by Rosalea Hostetler who grew up on a Mennonite farm west of Harper; as an artist she lived in NYC, LA, Chicago, Cincinnati, Lawrence, KS and Kansas City. She returned to Harper in 1968 and when local violence and corruption drove her away in the early 80s, she left until her last return in 1994. She has kept focused on her Dream to preserve her hometown for forty years. "Rosalea Ain't Dead Yet!"
You can bet the ugly remarks are coming from the drug traffickers and users who flourish in this part of Kansas.

The best of luck to you, Rosalea. I don't see how and why you stay in Harper County. The best thing I did in my life was leaving that hell hole. Keep fighting these horse's asses.

The IP Campbell is a pile of shit so as long as you represent it. You talk about wanting Harper to stop fucking with you and with your buildings. So, stop talking and actually do something about it.
Harper wants to remove the buildings, yes. And, sad as that is, the truth is, these buildings are falling apart. They have remained empty for years. So, either fix them and celebrate your victory or quit and shut the hell up.
