  • Though Freni is my favorite soprano for longevity and technique, I hear Te Kanawa several times live and with Domingo hers is one of the two most beautiful instruments I have ever heard.. like a Stradavarius

  • My friend is a professor of music and has stated time after time that Kiri is the perfect Desdemona. She uses this clip to show what a truly flawless performance this is. I had the honor to see Dame Kiri three times and she brought down the house each time. Her performance of "Vocalise" is also breathtaking. Thank you for sharing this clip. I actually own this production on dvd.

  • What year was this??

  • Not to belabor a point but my Ricordi score does say "pel peccator.:

  • WHO CARES WHAT LYRICS SHE SINGS!! Give it a rest and listen to her. My neighbor was there in ARENA DI VERONA back in 1982 (she had the ticket stubs FRAMED) and NO ONE cared about the lyrics. It was her preformance with the voice. GIVE it a rest already!

  • ...just kidding, I got to the end and it says 1982. ha. I have my blond moments...

  • Hey Amethyst, do you know when this video was taken? Thank you again for your contribution to sharing Kiri with the world!

  • Whatever. I never said that it was bad, i said she almost lost the text, that was a fact. By this time she had been singing Desdemona for 10-15 years and she had been rehearsing this production for at least 2 weeks on a daily basis.

You calling me names has no importance in my life. You feeling sorry for me makes no difference in my life, you make no difference in my life. So you can take your feelings back, they are beautiful, but i don't need them.

  • Yes, you're petty. Pathetically so. To hear such divine beauty and yet be blinded by quibbles - infinitely, tragically petty. I feel sorry for you.
