I took the inspection plate off of one of my Model 174 Super Beacon Rays to show everyone how it works. This one is a little noisy and needs a new or rebuilt motor, but it still works fine. All of the white stuff you see in there is just lithium grease. I was trying to quiet it down a bit. These 174's tend to wear out the motors sooner than the other types of Beacon Rays. The lever puts extra forces on the motor bearings.

  • what a cool invention.kind of the same way your ocilateing fans work.

  • Wow..Not at all how I thought oscilating gunballs worked..I thought the motor went in 2 directions..That it went almost a full turn then at the last second turned the other way.
