If you are asking if it works with AppStore apps, no (not yet). We are working on a mobile substrate hack to try and get the module working with AppStore apps. If you are asking about general Cydia 3rd party apps, it can work if the developer adds support for the iGPS360 module which uses a standard NMEA GPS protocol.

Yes, I designed and built the device myself. You can now buy one from Orange Gadgets. Just do a Google search for "Orange Gadgets iGPS360"

The module is only the GPS receiver. You can get the maps by using the xGPS software. Regarding size, you only need to download your local area or the area you are traveling to. Also, don't download all zoom levels as you won't need them all. They will just take up space. Best levels are about 3 levels away from the deepest zoom level.
to use the itouch as a GPS do do have to buy an app for it of pay a monthly fee?
how does it work, if it works as a GPS for free i would buy it

@SoldierCyfix You only need to buy the GPS plug-in. No monthly fee is required.

Hi... do you know of any software that would calculate a route in offline mode? I have an iPod Touch and I do not have wifi access every time, so I'd need a software in which I could download a map and be able to search for any location and trace routes without any Internet connection.
thanks!

You can use any of the major navigation apps, like Navigon, TomTom, Sygic, Magellan, etc.
