At a town hall meeting in Sherman Oaks, Howard Berman (US Congressman from the 28th Congressional District of California) defends his SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) which he sponsored. There is widespread concern that this bill would curtail freedom of speech and exchange of ideas on the internet, and that it could be used against those practicing political dissent.

He says the bill is only to stop foreign copyright infringement, but does not explain how YouTube would not become censored. He mentions that it is not just big corporations that it would benefit such that the biggest critics are large companies like Google, eBay, AOL, Facebook, Yahoo, PayPal, Wikipedia.... if these companies are lawful entities, why do they vehemently oppose this bill?

Berman has received $1.7 million from TV/Movie/Music industry, and hundreds of thousands from pharmaceutical industry - the two proponents of this bill.
