One of the worst effects of Christianization was the demise of tribal democracy (in Nordic countries they had "thingi", in Slavic we had
"wiec", both were a type of assembly of all free men, owners of households; women were also allowed to vote in the name of a household) and the onslaught of feudalism, which was a very unjust and wrong system, and one of the main reasons behind poverty of the late Medieval
times.

@vendsoin Now I don't say Christianity is evil, as it is not. It contains a lot of good values that were successfully emulated by other cultures (eg. charity). However, Christianization *WAS* evil, and the incoming islamization may be even worse. Now we have religious freedom and we should protect and defend it, whether Pagans, Christians, Satanists, Buddhists, Hindu or anybody.

@vendsoin And of course, temples in both Slavic and Norse world were destroyed, which is attested even in the Christian chronicles (Saxo Grammaticus, Thietmar, Adam from Bremen, Kosmas, Bede, etc.) Some time later there was a Pagan Reaction, which was a large-scale uprising against the new faith and the power of the Ruler and the Church. It included the destruction of the rulers' sites AND churches, too, which were massively burnt, the priests being killed.

@vendsoin There were a lot of volunteers to Christianity among all peoples. However, others were forced, often by their own rulers For example, in Poland those who didn't participate in the mass were persecuted on the order of the first Polish king, Boleslaw Chrobry. In these times, if your ruler embraced a religion, you were assumed to
embrace it, too, or else face the penalty for disobedience.

@tomik524 More and more people refers to the old beliefs now, at least in Poland. I am sure you will find a lot of people from Rodna Vira in Czech Republic, too. I am a Rodnover myself, and our community is growing. We're respectful and tolerant towards other religions, including Christianity. Some friends who are Christians do participate in our holidays, too, though they don't partake in the rites. Greetings!

@nefredil I know a lot of songs by Therion and I don't see anything offensive towards Christianity here. They are praising the "other side", ie. spirits considered demons by Christians and Jews, eg. Azazel, Deggial, Lucifer, etc. There's nothing "negative" in it, except for the obvious negativeness of selecting the other side. However, if you like Liverpool, and other one prefers
Manchester United, does it mean that he/she is "negative" towards Liverpool?

@zidanemaxout haha, Christians are now trying to convert metalheads. Futile work, sir (or madame), leave us alone. And there are many sources of good and truth, each culture has its own source. As a someone attached to the Slavic culture and identity, I do follow Slavic Deities, but if you want, you may follow your Christian spiritual leader, too. There's nothing wrong in following Jesus, but neither there is anything wrong in
following other Gods. With a Heathen greeting!

I love Therion from the first sight. Satanic or not, I don't care. As a polytheist, I have the same respect towards Satanists that I do have for Christians or Jews. Polytheism allows for tolerance towards other Deities and spirits, and I consider Yahveh as one of many Gods or spirits, not a "supreme" one. The same for Lucipher. I do respect IHWH and Lucipher in the same way do respect Re or Quetzalcoatl, however none of them is my personal God, as I do follow Slavic Gods. Glory to the Old Gods!

@zidanemaxout first of all, I do not consider Yehovah a creator of whole Universe. I know this is a message of The Bible, but I don't believe in it. For me, IHWH is only a Deity, of the same kind as many others. He's a national deity of the JEwish people, and as I do have much respect the Jews, I do respect Him as their spiritual leader, to. Nevertheless, as I am a Slavic Pagan (Rodnover) myself, Slavic Gods and Goddesses
are more important to me than IHWH.

@Heavymetalgamer28 -- read the lyrics. they're all about religion.

@nefredil
Therion isn't a Satanic band.... Satanism is a religion and Therion does not believe in religion.
