Prelude BWV999 - J. S. Bach

Prelude BWV999
by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750). This prelude has come down to us in a copy by Bach's friend Johann Peter Kellner. Here it is called 'Praelude in C mol. / pour La Lute. / di / Johann Sebastian Bach' and is notated on a double staff with soprano and bass clef. Through its inclusion in a nineteenth century collection of 12 short Bach preludes for beginners, it has become known to many keyboard students. Here I play it on a 14-course archlute.

What a remarkable instrument. I happily struggle along on my mandolin and here you are...I have a two-cd collection of Bach's music for this lute (or the 13-course baroque?) and I love it. Tremendous stuff. Thank you for sharing.
