The House Studios could be considered the residency of many well known artists of the early downtown Phoenix art movement. It's seems an almost appropriate ending to the house that influenced us all from the early days. Such perfect timing to have the House leave Phoenix in ashes since the First Fridays of today are more about swap meet style booths; while the converted houses to galleries get overlooked.
Weird...I actually called 911, I smelled smoke outside my place at 3rd & Portland...They told me it was over a block or so...huh...

I just told the brick from the House Studio what happened. It sighed and shed a little mor-tear! ,,,the end of an era. Up in flames DOES seem somehow appropriate.
Hey I want to see that interview!

Wow! I saw the charred remains while dropping my daughter off to school today. I came back and ended up being interviewed by ABC-15, which may be aired today at 4 or 5 pm.
A wall collapsed while the fire department was there putting out the smoldering embers. Plus, a swarm of bees somehow survived and is still living in the back house. Amazing.
Thanks for posting this.
