VICTORIA - It's one of the few remaining taboo topics and Bell is hoping a day long blitz will change all that.

Bell Let's Talk Day is on Wednesday, February 9th. 5 cents from every long distance call made or text sent by Bell customers will be donated to Canada-wide mental illness support programs.

The celebrity spokesperson for the Let's Talk Day campaign is Clara Hughes who won medals in both winter and summer Olympics. Hughes suffered with depression for two years and says one in five Canadians is suffering along with her.

On Vancouver Island - former hockey stars - Russ and Geoff Courtnall have bravely shared, their father died by suicide, and with efforts like the Courtnall Classic, they hope to raise money and awareness to help other families. But for many people the stigma of mental illness keeps them silent.

Watch CTV programming on Wednesday for Let's Talk segments on Canada AM, The Marilyn Denis Show, ETALK, CP24 and Much Music.
