Click http://Natural-Remedy.org/tonsilstones.aspx to learn more about all natural ways to get rid of tonsil stones and other ailments associated with the tonsils and throat.

A Tonsil Stone, or tonsillolith, is a piece or a cluster of substances, mainly consisting of collagen, that forms in the rear of the mouth, usually located in the crevasses of the tonsils, in the back of the throat. Tonsil stones, sometimes called tonsillitis stones, are most often white in color, and are usually accompanied by a strong, unpleasant odor. These tonsil stones could be a possible cause of bad breath or halitosis.

While bad tonsil stones, sometimes called Throat Balls, can be very irritating to deal with, they typically are not harmful. Sometimes gargling with mouthwash and regular brushing of the teeth are all it takes to prevent the formation of the tonsil stones (or calculos amigdalinos in Spanish).

If you're wondering how to get out tonsil stones, quite often a surface stone may be removed with a quick brushing over with a toothbrush in the back of the throat (being careful not to cause a gag reflex, of course). Another possible way to remove a tonsil stone is by pressing a cotton swab, or a finger, against the bottom of the tonsil and pushing it upward. This pressure may squeeze it out.

A common remedy for removing tonsil stones without causing a gag reflex is to flex the throat, then raise the tongue up to the roof of the mouth, then swallow normally. Sometimes this will cause the tonsils to tense up and possibly pop the stone out.

Drinking carbonated beverages such as seltzer water, club soda, or tonic water have also been used to effectively eliminate tonsil stones. However, this has been known to be a rather slow remedy.

The tonsils and the throat are typically very sensitive, and can be irritated or damaged easily, thereby causing swollen tonsils or other difficulties, so please take caution with any type of treatment you may use to get rid of tonsil stones.
