The fund raising song for earthquake victims was made in October 2005 when the disastrous earthquake brought the life in the Jammu & Kashmir State to a standstill. Pandit Bhajan Sopori (Santoor Legend & Composer) and Abhay Rustum Sopori (young Santoor Maestro & Composer) came forward extending their moral and emotional support and also help in raising more funds for the victims of the catastrophe. The father and son came up with this song under the banner of SaMaPa (Sopori Academy of Music And Performing Arts). Thus, came together the trio Pt. Bhajan Sopori conceiving the song, Abhay Rustum Sopori composing it and Shameem Azad putting down the lyrics for Aao Kadam Badhayain.
Aao Kadam Badhayain not only helped in the fund raising process contribution huge amount for the victims but also became the greatest hit of all times in the musical history of Jammu and Kashmir. The song also created history with maximum telecasts and broadcasts. The song was on air more than 50 - 60 times a day and ran continuously for over one and a half year in J&K on different channels. The Song was also shown in various International conferences in India and abroad.
The song featured some of the most renowned musicians of India like Ustad Rahim Fahimuddin Khan Dagar, Dr. Shanno Khurana, Pandit Rajan Sajan Mishra, Pandit Debu Chaudhuri, Smt. Versatile is one word that describes Abhay Rustum Sopori, for he is the youngest Santoor maestro, youngest classical musician to compose and conduct orchestras and folk ensembles, and has also been the youngest artist from the country to be awarded the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Award Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar. Born in Srinagar he inherited a profound sense of music from his fabled Sufiana Gharana of Kashmir the exclusive traditional Santoor family with its roots spanning nine generations over more than 250 years. He has the credit for creating a Cultural Revolution in J&K and bringing the youth together through music.

Pandit Bhajan Sopori is more than an individual a performer and composer par excellence, musicologist, teacher, writer, poet, and an extraordinary human being he is a complete institution in himself. Regarded as the cultural bridge of the State of Jammu & Kashmir and the rest of the country, Pandit Bhajan Sopori is hailed as the Saint of the Santoor and the King of Strings.
