Written by Paddy McGuigan of The Barleycorn and first released on their album "Live At The Embankment" in 1972.

The only other recorded version I have heard is that by Kathleen Largey on her album "The Price of Justice".

This recording by Glasgow/Irish Rebel band Saoirse was released in 1999 on their album of the same name...Freedom's Walk.

  • hac anyone herd of a band called justice formed by the quinn brother form armagh plz let me no

  • Yes, I have some of their stuff on cd. Think one of them passed away in an accident a few years ago.

  • I think I have a few versions of this song, one of which is by Paddy himself from his solo album, "My Country, My Songs and Me".

  • I didn't know Paddy had a solo album! Do you know if it's still available?

  • This song is brilliant

You can be proud to be irish

Freedom is't an empty word for you

We remember Republican P.o.W's and the ten brave Men

  • They were the men with the vision

    The men with the cause

The men who defied their oppressors laws

The men who traded their chains for guns

    Born into slavery

    They were freedom's sons!

    SAOIRSE!!
