Nasir Jones, IPA: [nɑːˈsiər], (born September 14, 1973), better known by his stage name Nas, IPA: [nɑːz], formerly Nasty Nas, is an American rapper and actor. The son of jazz musician Olu Dara, he was born and raised in the Queensbridge housing projects in New York City. Although he dropped out of middle school, he attained a high degree of literacy that he would later use in his lyrics. Nas was signed to Columbia Records in 1994, when his debut album Illmatic came out. Illmatic was a critically acclaimed bestseller and would go on to be widely hailed a classic. Nas was part of hip-hop super group The Firm, which released one album.

  • @bloodprince113 Hip Hop is an art form and a form of expression, some people want to hear what they can relate to whether if its about partying or if its about being from the streets as long as you're being true to the material that you're talking about but I can say that most rap songs today are made for the party and club crowd than for the ones who take hip hop as an art form.

  • @solbaddude989 WELL SAID!!, especially that part about rappers who rap about themselves like the world owes them everything. I definetly can't stand the rappers that are so flamoyant about their money and fame and then they try to be deep and then talk about struggling and being real.

  • @swearingalien so many pop rappers reinventing hip hop and selling out to mainstream pop for money and fame.

  • like who cursed hip-hop?

  • one milestone of hip hop, one of the bes lp´s. luv dat

  • @bloodprince113 fabolous doesn't even compare to nas, and em isn't new? also the game isn't new either and you cant compare him to nas also

  • anyone else notice Big L used a similar beat on "8 Iz Enuff" ?

  • 10 people hit the bench by the time the first quarter ran out... ; )

  • how did we go from this to shit like lil wayne and nikki minaj?

  • The real rap comes at half time.

  • @klassickk i would agree...but you gotta remember ny state of mind, if i ruled the world, and the world is yours...but ya this is a dope ass song

  • best song he ever did

  • Im the 1,000 person to like this

  • thank god Large Professor gave nas a shot

  • i remember back in late '09 to early '10 when i was in the 8th grade, my old school rap knowlegde was expanding my the second yall!! damn! i got into 90's rap when around micheal jackson died in the summer of '09 damn. i clicked on the wu tang clan video C.R.E.A.M....it was all over. no longer i had a passion to listen to the bullshit that was comin out then. now look at me now...10th grade, about 700x the knowledge of rap, got taller, permit, damn...i changed. i swear old school rap 4 life son!

  • @cowboybuttsex13 Fuck off.

  • i keep my mind on my money , money on my mind , finger on the trigger nigger hand on my 9

  • damn, large professor is so nice

  • @xertaqaadka

Fuck you man. I'm not dumb or deaf and your an asshole for calling me names while I'm trying to be respectful about other peoples feelings and opinions. So fuck you, prick

  • @solbaddude989

I can kind of agree, I think it was jay z who said that dumber lyrics sell more albums.

  • @bloodprince113 well, beside having a prefference and opinions but you either be dumb or deaf for not liking Nas but hey like Nas said. '' this are the lyrics of the man that you never understand'' so say whatever u want....

  • @bloodprince113 i was making the argument that just because something is mainstream that doesn't make it good. to be honest i was way more against the gangster rap generation then this one. but i find the 90s generation artist projected there voice/themselves in there songs with more intelligence, people like ATCQ,nas, common, etc the problems is todays mainstream rappers sell themselves out to be unintelligent&shallow. young people look up to them copy em giving black ppl bad rep

  • Nas, why did you do it?

You know you got the mad fat fluid when you rhyme, it's halftime

    briliant

  • I said this multiple times. I don't want to argue about this. Idk why people keep commenting about me. I'm trying to squash this. Not everyone in the world likes nas.
