Each artist is a world unto themselves. Or they are not an artist.
You cannot say Rembrandt is better than Goya.
They are totally different and valid in their own domain and time.
It is just silly to make these kinds of comparisons.
There are players that have more dexterity than Segovia
at his advanced old age, but do they make MUSIC?

Segovia was a great musician. So is Julian Bream. Saying one is greater than the other just shows arrogance on the part of the person making a choice. There is no objective way to prove that one is greater than the other. It all boils down to personal preference.

don't hold it against them, they don't know what talent is. segovia was the best. end of story.there are people around that learned under him, and are considered among the best today. but they can't touch his passion and understanding. the student will never be greater than the master. and let me tell you something, you can be the most talented player in the world, but if you don't have passion, you just rush through a piece to prove you can play, and all you do is ruin it.

Relax guys. It's not about who plays best. If you think it is then you haven't understood nada to music my brothers. Segovia and Williams are from different generations, and thanks god their playing is different too (would be boring otherwise, right?). Thx for posting this video.
