Guitair, the first real airguitar march 2005

The G U I T A i R is the first real Air Guitar. It allows you to play anywhere and at any time. By Wouter Widdershoven

In one hand you hold a 13 cm OLED Touch screen that allows you to reach the whole G U I T A i R fret board just by moving your hand from and to your body. The OLED touch screen senses every touch of your fingers on the virtual fret board. Both the distance and the finger placement are sent to the G U I T A i R shirt trough Infrared.

The G U I T A i R shirt contains smart fabrics. Above the hip six strings are woven through the shirt. These are touch sensors; whenever you touch the strings with a finger or a plectrum these movements are detected. This information is combined with the information received from the device in your hand.

In the shirt your moves are transformed into samples that you hear through the attached earphones when you want to keep the music to yourself; or can be amplified whenever you are on stage.
