A demonstration of my QR Code reader application (iQR) working on both the iPhone and Windows Mobile Palm Treo. In the back end it is supported by the OpenCV framework. As part of this project I ported OpenCV to Windows Mobile 6.

The Treo performance isn't very good, but the iPhone is speedy enough.

See http://alexkarpus.com/opencv/ for more information about the project.

  • so cool !

why not use zxing , which is open source project for bar code also.

  • @forrestkey the goal was to use an existing computer vision framework. In this case OpenCV was a much better fit. The focus was more on getting computer vision tasks to work on mobile devices than on bar code reading. Which as you said is already done by projects like zxing!

  • They were using QR code readers on cell phones in japan when I went there back in 2005. They had them on bags of chips were you take the pic and it would go to their website and add it to your points. But their cell phones are like 5 years from what we get in the US.
