On certain channels, my DVR goes to hell, buffering the image and dropping audio every 2 seconds or so. It happens randomly and resetting the box does not fix this. It even records the buffering and audio problems with the programs. The only reason why I haven't returned the box for an exchange is because I have several recorded movies that I haven't watched yet. I think it's time I buy some DVDs and get a NetFlix account...
I've had the same problem, but it's only happened twice so far.

I get this when the box is connected to an external drive through eSATA and is recording to two HD shows while I'm watching a third. It seems like it just can't transfer that much data at once while reading from and writing to the external drive.

Have you cable provider come to your house and check the signal wire going in to your house. I have the same DVR from Time Warner Cable.

Might not be the box. Could be weak signal to the box. That's the problem I had.
