  • is it out?

  • @thepopeshitsinthewoo I was wrong, the sensor is a 23.4 x 15.6 mm Exmor APS HD

  • The NEX-5 has a full frame 35mm. I expect this to have the same sensor.

  • Amazing!!! home movies just wen't Hollywood.

    Alpha Cam!

  • @blaz3030 I just saw posted somewhere that it is supposed to have an APS HD CMOS Exmor sensor, the same as in its NEX-5.

  • The big feature of this camera will be the size of its sensor. An APS-C sized sensor is closer to the surface area of 35mm motion picture film, and therefore could potentially mimic film-like depth of field characteristics. The interchangeable lenses would be an enhancement to that feature. These 2 things, plus an HD-SDI port on the back, would make this an intriguing little camera to anyone making moving images.

  • @squeeks1234 "the industry"??? I highly doubt this is meant for the movie industry...unless Hollywood is having some serious budget cuts on their movies.

What this will do however is give amateurs a WAY better alternative than just regular camcorders.

  • @hpaulmoon there is no fucking way this will take over the Red or Scarlets position. This thing probably uses a built in harddrive and doesnt have xlr/limo/bnc out. Sure it might take a beautiful image, but it's just not useable in the industry (maybe, but hopefully not)

And too bad its a cmos chip, the jello you get from something like the 7D during handheld is a bitch.

  • finally

  • yea go sony!
