On the Fiddle, 4th July 2009.

Clare and Matt Tarling organised a concert held in the small church in Winterborne Monkton in Dorset, UK, of some of the top fiddle players in the South (Donal O'Riain, Colm Murphy, Clare and Matt Tarling with Don Oeters, Rick Foot and Andy Stone). "An evening of uplifting traditional fiddle music from Ireland, America and Eastern Europe."

In this video Colm Murphy plays a set of American-styled tunes. The first is the old-time standard Old Joe Clarke. The second is a tune called Brown's Dream that Colm learned from Eric Merrow, and the last is a bluegrass interpretation of St.Anne's Reel.

Fiddle - Colm Murphy
Guitar - Don Oeters
Bass - Rick Foot

  • Brilliant stuff. Playing the fiddle a few months now myself. If I can one day play in a three piece like that I'l be a happy man. R, Ireland

  • @darkstardom85 Good luck with your playing... It would be great to be as good as Colm. I've been playing just under 2 years now and still have a long way to go. Look forward to seeing some videos of you on your channel :)

  • By the way Dave, excellent video....like a front row seat!! A must with ear phones to hear the big bass (which I play) and guitar..otherwise the fiddle takes it too high. Great job! Yes, you may film one of our concerts anythime - in Newfoundland!!! Cheers~Mike

  • Well I thought this was going to be boring the way the video started.....but I was wrong! lol
