My first video, a tribute to the great pulp-magazines of the 20's-50's. It's a bit longer than I thought it would be, hence the looping music.

I'm currently working on my own hero-pulp novels to be published soon, and these are my influences. Check out the developments at the Miami Aerodrome Research and Development Labratories at: http://miamiaerodrome.wordpress.com

  • My first reading lessons were from pulp westerns and sci fi man those covers bring back memories My folks had racks of them all the way back to the thirties.

  • @oldgamergeek Very cool! I've been lucky enough to track down a handful of original pulps... they're the crown jewels in my collection.

  • Great video. I would love to see some more. Heck, I'd love to do something like this myself.

  • Want to see more? Look no further than my channel. Hero-pulp essays abound, with more on the way. Hope you like them!

  • Good theory, actually. Makes me wonder...

Love your username, by the way :)

  • Nicely done, Shame the news stand photo and some of the cover scans are blurry; but hey, for a first effort - marvelous, very enjoyable.

  • I know. I've gotten better, definitely. Thanks for checking it out, Doc!

  • Thanks.

While Dejah Thoris dressed as Sailor Mars would be cute, Sailor Mars dressed as Dejah Thoris would be better.

  • Sports pulps and romance pulps...

They're still doing that in Japan. They're comics, but still, the sports stuff and teen boy stuff and girly stuff...

I have to wonder if American pulps might have helped spark the whole manga thing in Japan after the War?

  • Wow. So I did it right, then?

Honestly, thanks so much for the compliments. I guess I'd better get busy on the follow-up video now...
