@TheMightykaz How strong was this EF-5?? It had to be well above 200 mph to do this kind of mayhem ive read it was more powerful then the Joplin tornado which was very very powerful.
@WILLYC1107 omg, you're right. I just took a second look. It really is pure devastation when you see 18-wheelers on top of what used to be a Wal-Mart. So horrible! :((
@heatherdumas yeah i am too, tht is def one day i will never forget. one i can remember every single little detail frm the start of the day till the end of the day. i was in Hodges, AL when tht tornado went thru H-burg and we got the news 15 mins after it happened, when a large EF-3 or EF-4 spun up and hit us, we barely made it to storm shelter (fastest ive ever ran in my life) twas an insane day.
@TheMightykaz not arguing just informing ABC3340 and the Weather Channel both delcared the hburg thru limestone county EF5 was the deadliest EF5 in Alabama history, my bad, and was also the largest it was a mile and a half wide. my dad was right in front of it running from it to get to my sister and her baby. he barely made to her when 10 sec later it hit them. alot of ppl in hburg didnt even know it was coming until my dad flew by blaring his horn screaming out his window.
@GhOsTlYaPaRaTiS Actually Joplin has more than double the fatalities compared to Hackleburg . It's currently at 160 compared to 71 from hackleburg - Huntland. Tn tornado. As far as largest ef-5 the Greensburg, Parkersburg and El Reno tornado were all over a mile wide at some point. The Greensburg tornado was 1 3/4 mile wide. Hackleburg was no doubt one of the strongest tornadoes in history though.
@MrGSWAGG92 Pretty sure that was part of our school.
