Why do I get an Acid house kings vibe from this?

It's been a while since I've listend to either Mehldau or Redman. Sounds good. Thanks.

Wonderful track. Great jazz/classical crossover. Beautifully recorded too, and all of the ensemble cast are fantastic.

Brad is a special breed of musician, he opens new worlds for us. Very few have this talent.

This is some of the best new jazz that I've heard in a long, long time. I can't say I love some of Mehldau's earlier stuff (he's rather minimalist and his solos are quite boring), but his collaboration with Joshua Redman and 3 incredibly talented and all-new studio musicians resulted in this fantastic double album. It wreaks of fusion but feels like bop! Fantastic stuff right here. I love how the melodies interact with each other, and how the chordal structures seamlessly flow into each other.

A lot of his playing has "Monkish" qualities, especially one tune on this release where he hits a diminished second (I hope that's the right term - two adjacent notes) Check out his version of "Skippy".

I like the Monk-ish flavor he plays with here, very impressive. Love me some Mehldau, thanks a lot.
The ending makes me smile.
