anime doesn't need its stereotypical characters, the whole series is more about fun than about a deep story and that's just fine. if the wohle movie industrie would tackle that subject the way you probably did, it wouldn't advance. we wouldn't have our "hangover"s no "two and a half men" and so on... you have to accept it for what it wants to be (and what it does really good): a piece of lighthearted comedy and more than that entertainment!

I completely agree with you. In fact I'm pretty sure I said all of those things in the video. It is more about fun than anything else and if you step back you can really enjoy it. The problem is the characters don't reeeeeaaallly develop and are rather shallow. They are not easy to relate too and it becomes difficult to laugh or care about them while with the hang over and two and a half men I can totally get behind and identify with those characters. At least in Hangover they have a hero journy

I just finished watching it, personaly it was one of the best "animated" anime out there. Not to mention the OST, the unique characters, and totaly amazing action scenes, followed by hilarious comedy thought out.

Granted, it was more of a shallow entertainment series (Because it didn’t really have a specific goal) and there were a lot of things that didn’t manifest to the end But all in all, it was totally epic and you know it!

I give it a 9

This critic is just a prototypical generic anime fan. I don't blame him for not realizing the true beauty of Samurai Champloo. Still, I respect his opinion. For every great anime comes their legion of critics.

Personally, I give Samurai Champloo a 9/10. For me it's more about the fun, originality, randomness, bad-assery (If that's even a word) and music. I don't even think the plot was bad at all like several people do- the final three episodes answered a lot of questions.

@RedShogun13 I agree, this anime was never supposed to have seriosu plot or anything. It was all about the ride, not the destination. The anime even says it when Fuu would say that she wished their journey would never end. Even the end of the anime proves that point.

This show is great. The guy just takes animes too seriously, and this is not a serious anime. At all.

I think that's one of the parts I liked the most about it though.Why do we NEED to have a set genre of "action" or "comedy" or "drama"? This anime is about the lives of the three protagonists and life is filled with all three of the aforementioned aspects.
