"Edward Said is the late world famous Palestinian intellectual and literature critic. He was a prominent member of the Palestinian parliament-in-exile for 14 years until he quietly stepped down in 1991. In 1948, Said and his family were dispossessed from Palestine and settled in Cairo. He came to the United States to attend college and lived in New York for many years. Because of his advocacy for Palestinian self-determination and his membership in the Palestine National Council, Said was not allowed to visit Palestine until several years ago and passed away in 2003.

The late Edward Said was a professor of English and comparative literature, known as both a scholar of modern literature and theory as well as a scholar of Middle East politics. The Oklahoma bombing is very strange. The US govt said in the end after about 4 different changes to the story, finally said it was 4500 lb of fertilizer that blew the front off that building. Now there is no way fertilizer could do that much damage, i don't care if it was 5 tons, there is no chance that was done with fertilizer. Fertilizers explosive power dissipates very quickly and hence there is no way it could do that amount of destruction.

I do think it is reasonable to consider the Oklahoma attack to potentially be "middle eastern related (which is the wrong term to begin with since I consider myself middle easter but am an Iraqi Jew) however it is most certainly not justified to go the length that America did in these accusations like making the description of the suspects arab. Thats ridiculous and I agree with Said 100% on that.

I don't think the view on Aladdin as racist is fair. Yes, the bad guys look menacing but hey, they're the bad guys...

Its not just arabs, look at the use of british actors in films as snarling posh fools. Stereotyping is a casual tragedy.

@ahsanjafrri Islam is the same but Islamic law and ideologies are divided into sects. Saudi Arabia has a form of Sharia that is corrupt and goes against the Quran. I'm not sure about indonesia but i know that the Shia / Sunni conflict is wrong. The only true muslims are Quranist

The West use these "perceptions" deliberatly and with a strong intent, which is to justify colonisation, imperialism, genocide, slavery and war. How many times have we heard idiots like George Bush claim they are going to invade etc etc place to end terrorism and to "liberate" the Mid Eastern people. How many European and American soliders are there in the Middle East just for "security reasons"? Have any Mid Eastern country planted their soliders in America or Europe?
