Refuge Denied is the debut album by the band Sanctuary, who disbanded in 1991 (partially reforming as Nevermore).
This was the only album to feature extremely high pitched, layered vocals from vocalist Warrel Dane. It has been speculated that Dane injured himself in the making of Refuge Denied, due to the change in vocal style in his subsequent work.
It was produced by Megadeth vocalist and guitarist, Dave Mustaine.
"White Rabbit" is a cover version of a Jefferson Airplane song and Dave Mustaine performed the guitar solo on it.

I remember going to see Megadeth in a tiny club and looked at the ticket and thought "who the hell is Sanctuary, probably another lame opening act". It took all of 15 seconds into Battle Angels for me to think "Tomorrow, I'm buying this CD!"
