  • Not to be rude, but when are we going to see that MALIK 11000 robot?

  • Don't worry Crazy56U, you are not being rude. The MALIK 11000 is very complex. Give it time. Meanwhile enjoy the AMIR 9000. He has been a great microwaving friend to us all.

  • NO SLUG WTF MAN!

  • Don't worry calebiskkkool. Rest assured there is a slug in the Wed episode.

  • OMG it looks like a metal halide bulb. HamRadio's are wonderful for containing these. Hook it up to a HID ballast and there you go!

  • that thyratron contains mercury. heated at that temperature it all went to vapors. you've just poisoned yourself and shorten your life. congrats

  • Hope you were far away while this was going on. Mercury vapor is highly toxic

  • you've just released a few miligrams of mercury into the environment . Hope something useful comes out of this. (or not!)

  • @dovetastic I have another concept: a high pressure sodium bulb

  • MICROWAVE AMIR

  • Ahh yea the ubiquitous 5559 Mercury Vapor Thyratron. Yes indeed I see these common household items every day and use a pair of them mounted on the wall for dimming the kitchen counter lights because they are generously rated for 1000 Volts @ 2.5 Amps with a 15A peak current rating, ensuring they are mostly immune to those pesky EMPs, regularly occurring short circuits, and random lightning strikes that destroy cheap solid state dimmers. They are as tough outside the microwave as inside.

  • It's interesting how the black bar appears on the camera... I suspect that it is to do with the pulsing of the light at a high frequency. Also, pretty colours.

  • Amperex. . . quality product. It just kept giving :)

  • Actually, the WHO reacts this way to EVERY new, contagious disease. They over-react because disease is a very serious issue that should never be underestimated.

However, the WHO is a non-profit organisation, so they aren't going to make any money off of the vaccinations. You make it sound like there is some kind of conspiracy - really, people were just afraid that we had another Spanish Flu on our hands.

'Course, with our modern hygiene, disease isn't ass dangerous as it was back then.

  • @vagitoe

I was just making a point in that the WHO classed swine flew as a full blown health pandemic and ordered the vaccinations of, well everyone possible, when there is no imposing threat to the general population. End of the day, swine flu is nothing to worry about. I travel the London subway system every day and I see people sniffing and sneezing all the time, but I don't see people pull the emergency break and dart out the nearest exit at the site of it.
