The patriotic song Jerusalem, performed at the Last Night of the Proms '06. The song was based from the 1808 poem from poet/painter William Blake called "And Did Those Feet In Ancient Time." The poem is influenced by the Glastonbury legend that says Jesus travelled with his uncle Joseph of Arimethea to what is now Glastonbury, England and the 2nd coming of Jesus. In an age of smoke-filled factory towns of the Industrial Revolution, the possibility of Jesus creating a heaven in England gave a sense of hope. The poem was accompanied to music during WWI, after the horrific battles such as Somme. It has since become one of Britain's most patriotic songs, next to "God Save The Queen" and is the official English Rugby Union song.
