On October 8, in 1585 Terumune was abducted by Hatakeyama Yoshitsugu.

Masamune caught up with them at the bank of the Abukuma River.

The opposite bank is a territory of Hatakeyama.

Terumune cried out.

"Shoot Yoshitsugu together with me!"

Masamune was at a loss, but ordered to shoot them at last.

Masamune raised an army after death of his father soon.

@Devilmon484 While I agree with your view that Yoshihime, Masa's mom, was most likely a harsh, cold and manipulative woman, Masamune was in fact not born blind in his right eye, but caught the pox at the age of 8 around his right eye. But while the pox would kill a men immediately who were older/stronger, he survived and chose to remove the eyeball after hearing that it might be plucked out in battle by an opponent, so he got rid of it first. Sorry, I'm a history geek, it's all in the details.

@Lyiad His mother probably wanted a 'perfect' son. However, since Date's eye was born blind and had a huge scar. She refused to do anything with an imperfect son. Since she is a spoiled piece of shit bitch. Cause she married Date's father and probably Date's father was a very famous and rich samurai or somethin. She thinks she has to be perfect and her brethren has to be perfect also. My opinion tho XD.

I could never understand why Date's mom would not accept her son; he was a powerful, successful warlord who ensured both Dewa and Oshu Provence's survival and made them prosper. Who honestly would CARE if he lost an eyeball, it was already blind to begin with. Just by the fact that he would pluck it out himself or got Kojuro to do it, was a feat to be proud of. Mothers WANTED their sons to be aggressive and strong in that era and Masamune was all that at such a young age. He was wasted on her.
