  • "Dear diary...

    Today I had more nightmares..."

  • After traversing the disturbing dreamworld and painstakingly assembling all of the effects, as I finally went to save for the very last time, this song nearly brought tears to my eyes. I love Yume Nikki and Madotsuki is by far one of the most influential video game characters.

  • @Peashant2142 lol. Well, I'll just be here.

  • @IneedaYTaccount I got it the first time, gee. Err, whatever, I think I lost my point, too tired to continue this conversation right now.

  • @Peashant2142 (Cont.) If you're confused as to how you agreed with my point, you posted that "the chances that what fans think and what the author meant are the same thing are so small..." which means you believe that Kikiyama has a reason

  • @Peashant2142 What you say is true, but you're missing my point. You actually already agreed with it. We may never truly understand the reason Kikiyama put those things in the game, but that does not make them pointless as you stated in your earlier post. Regardless if theorists are off the mark, there is an idea that Kikiyama is trying to get across to us.

  • @IneedaYTaccount It's not the same. You can argue with that artist about the mening and the symbology of his work, but you can't with YN. You can't ask Kikiyama wtf means that runover guy, nor there are books deeply analysing his work... Making theories won't solve this, the chances that what fans think and what the author meant are the same thing are so small. It's absurd.

Then again, you hit the nail, we, you and me, are different.

  • @Peashant2142 I guess this is just where we're different. To me, the connection between windows and dreams is clear as day. You know the saying "A window to another world?" You would probably say the same for the works of PIcasso (and I do too). Ask a trade artist however and you'll get a different response. "There is order in this madness" is what I got.

  • @IneedaYTaccount Madotsuki means "windowed" it's like if she was called "sample", it's exaggerated to try to find any meaning. The game is like a chaotic canvas, with inmersive music and atmosphere... the meaning of each character is just pointless

  • @Peashant2142 Well to me, Yume Nikki is immersive because of the possibilities of hidden meanings. If I just thought everything looked cool and surreal, I would find it a very boring game. It's all pop pop fizz fizz. Nothing substantial. No lore. True the developer might have just said the same thing and we're putting too much meaning into it, but considering he named the character Madotsuki, I think the developer put more thought into it thank you think. That's my interpretation.

  • @IneedaYTaccount Maybe...but you can't definetly say she is "influential". Her dreams are just a way to create an inmersive game, but going as far as creating mad theories, or try to "understand" her and her... feelings? That's just stupid, even more when the game it's not even finished. Maybe half of the stuff is not even intended.
