  • @CEmasterz000 Um Rosin is the stuff that MAKES it make sound. They could have put soap on the bow, though, which would have killed the sound. I doubt they did, though, because it would have been harder to sync with the recording. They are extremely good and they can play exactly with the recording, so no problem!

  • @Beaner1226 80 degrees won't affect the glue. I live in Tucson....it's 80 here in the wintertime and my instruments are still in one piece. The glue that is used to hold stringed instruments together is called Hide Glue. It is soluble (meaning it melts) at 150 degrees fahrenheit (not 80) and when it comes in contact with water. Bachtoven1685 is correct when saying you can't keep an instrument in tune for more than 5 minutes in 17 degree winter temps. I doubt Perlman took his Strad out that day.

  • @Beaner1226 Back Prelude? Being a string player for 20+ years and a music education PhD student, I must've missed that piece in my history and theory courses. I've played weddings in 90+ weather outdoors, but I FEAR playing in 17 degree weather. The pegs of stringed instruments (not basses, they have gears to tune), will expand and contract depending on the temps. Was your Charity event in freezing temps, Einstein?

  • @EdwardChan1101 That's not at all what I was referring to as being lame. Mr Chan. I think it's lame how much money the USA spends on an inauguration. Why not put that money towards the tens of thousands of starving mouths in the USA alone.

As for going up there and play - I'm a professional musician, I have no qualms with performing.

  • Perlman is the absolute BEST!!! Yo-yo Ma plays very beautifully... Awesome performance!
