@nrowland56 It seems like it prone to stalling.

i bet they was very uneconomical and had a very bad power/weight ratio

I just watched it again and see that you have done just that! Duhhh! :))

I loved seeing that! I made a couple from scratch myself. With less than one atmosphere of pressure they're pretty bad in terms of efficiency and there is the sudden reversal of forces on the con' rod, wrist pin, piston, crank etc. but they are so cool! You can turn off the ignition then spin it into the firing position with the fuel/air mixure and stop the rotation. Pause. Up to several seconds later the engine can simply be turned on by making the spark ignite the mixure. Tool on! :) Walter

Not sure what top speed is on it. but it can run fairly fast by shutting the top port. In the video it's running about as slow as it can.

Another beauty. Say, the Lenoir ran on illuminating gas. How does this model run on alcohol? How and why?

There was a normal carburetor on it at first but with the way the governor works, the fuel mixture would vary too much. Now there's a little fuel injector pump that keeps the fuel steady. You can see it somewhat on the backside of the engine. Also use to run it on gasoline but it would gum the small parts up. Thanks for the comments

how do non compression engines work

They have a short intake stroke from TDC to almost mid stroke when they fire the charge. The rest the stroke (to BDC) is power. The exhaust is from BDC to TDC & the cycle repeats..without any compression.
