A Blu-ray of episodes from Gerry Anderson

"OKAY, VENUS?" "OKAY, STEVE." "RIGHT. LETS GO!"
The year is 2062, and World Space Patrol ship Fireball XL5 is assigned to Sector 25, where intrepid pilot Steve Zodiac, ably assisted by Doctor Venus and Professor Matthew Matic, faces such dangers as planetomic missiles, explosive gas clouds, space spies, and alien races both warlike and benign.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SPACE GENERAL
This brand new, colourised edition of Fireball XL5 is taken from a new HD transfer of the original film elements which have been processed through Legend Films revolutionary colourising process. With the results even impressing creator Gerry Anderson, this is a brand new way to view the series.

Lt. 90 has been promoted to the rank of General... but unfortunately, promotion has gone to his head.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

[] FOUR FEATHER FALLS - GUNFIGHT ON MAIN STREET (in HD)
Four Feather Falls is a Western adventure series for children. Hero of the stories is Tex Tucker, the sheriff of Four Feather Falls, who, with the help of his prized possessions - a talking horse, a talking dog and a pair of magic guns - keeps law and order and defeats the bandits Pedro, Fernando and Big Ben when they plot mischief.

[] A WONDERLAND OF STARDUST - EXTENDED EDITION (SD)
A brand new documentary about the making of Fireball XL5 featuring contributions from creators Gerry Anderson and Sylvia Anderson, as well as numerous members of the crew including David Elliott, Alan Pattillo and Brian Johnson.

  • You have no idea what Gerry Anderson's groundbreaking work did to my psyche - I LOVE marionettes! Just didn't like it when Gerry decided to 'progress' to using human beings and eventually abandoning the format that made him the legendary leader of what was, for me, the complete essence of my childhood. Thank God for YouTube!

  • well thats what i had read when i did some searches for gerry anderson and thats the info i came up with... a solenoid of all things lol

  • @biukucanoe

They should be able to remove the wires; I don't know how it was done in the Matrix and "Crouching Tiger" movies etc, but it should be simple to do, just make the wires the same color as what's right next to them, or what's obviously behind them.

It requires some clean-up against multi-colored backgrounds, but it's part of the process.

  • @pdogone1

So it wasn't a string, it was a control-wire for electronic motion in the puppets' faces?

    That's amazing.

  • @masterstarfox

But all the other Gerry Anderson series' are ALREADY color.

So most people wouldn't know the difference, until they've SEEN XL5 in color and could see the superior quality from the other puppet-shows.

So it's a catch-22; they need to SEE it in color, in order to appreciate it and want to buy it; and they need to appreciate it and buy it in order to have the money get it colorized.

That's why you'd need a moneybags like Ted Turner to do it, otherwise it won't get done.

  • @SovereignStatesman well fireball was made in black and white.i did tell them aboult gerry anderson.i think.

  • @masterstarfox

It's real corporate bullshit-- you have to find out who has the rights, then they have to get the market-research to find out if it would be cost-effective etc. Ted Turner was just a moneybags who could do it all himself.

The problem is that there aren't enough Fireball XL5 fans to present a significant demand; everyone confuses Fireball with Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlett, Stingray and all the other crappy Gerry Anderson series', they don't see the quality-difference.

  • @biukucanoe if they did do that people will say "that mans walking a bit funny".that's why the strings are kept.to show people that these are puppets.

  • @SovereignStatesman west wing studios does the same when you look at the two seasons of bewitched and the first season of i dream of jeannie.i sent some of my colourized pics to west wing and thet were amazed.but west wing contacted network for colourising the whole show and had no response.
