Moon Memories: 40th Anniversary of the Apollo 11

The goal of MOON MEMORIES is to collect family memories regarding the space voyage that resulted in the first humans landing on the moon and taking a moon walk. How did this historic event affect your families or friends?

The Ontario Science Centre invites your family to participate in collecting moon memories. Generations who have no memories of this event will see it come alive as they hear the rich stories of their families or friends.

SHARE YOUR MEMORIES!

•If you were born before July 20th, 1969 or if you were too young to remember it—you can participate by interviewing those who did witness Apollos arrival at the moon.
•If you experienced it yourself, you can be interviewed by those who didnt. Some of the interviews will be published in the blog http://memoriaslunares-moonmemories.blogspot.com
•Others will be part of newspaper articles.
•Videos will be broadcast through a YouTube playlist.

There are TWO different interview formats:

WRITTEN
Written interviews must be no longer than one page (double spaced) and can be an individual or a group project. Written interviews must be sent as an attachment to cientec@cientec.or.cr and must include participant(s) information such including name, age, phone number, address, country of origin, and name of science museum or other place where you found this notice.

VIDEOS
Video interviews should be approximately 3 minutes long. Producers can be as creative as they wish regarding its content and use different media components. This can also be an individual or group project. In order to participate, video creators must upload their video to YouTube.com and send an e-mail with the URL, along with their information, to cientec@cientec.or.cr

PLAYLIST: All videos received at CIENTEC from all over the world will be added to a YouTube playlist available at www.youtube.com/cientec.

SUGGESTED QUESTIONS:

Here are two suggested questions for both written and video interviews:
1.How did you find out about Apollo 11s arrival to the moon, and the first moon walk?

This project is lead by CIENTEC, RedPop, ConCienciaNews.com (Hispanic Science Newswire) and includes the participation of countries such as Brazil, Chile, Canada, Costa Rica, Italy, United States, Mexico and United Kingdom.

DEADLINE DATE

Please submit your interview by Friday, August 22.

PRIZES

ConCiencianew.com will pick four winners from all participants. Each winner will receive a $25 gift certificate they can use in their local science museum gift shop.

  • I was 10 years of age. It was on that Sunday evening so long ago when our entire family gathered in the living room to observe history being made. It was in 'glourious Black & White' and may seem very crude to someone raised in recent times. But it was all VERY hi tech at that time. Gulf oil even had distributed paper LEMs that kids could put together and have a replica. My brother still has his!! It was a great time to be an American and be proud of our nation!!!

  • thank you so much for that! : ))
