Can someone help me? We were planning on getting a Cairn puppy this week. I spoke with some local breeders and they claim if we dont have a fenced in yard then we shouldnt have a Cairn. Is this true? I have four kids that will keep this puppy busy and take it for walks, is that enough outside action or will the Cairn's be unhappy without being able to run free in the yard?

My dog Lexie is a cairn mix. She was 3 months when we got her. She is the best dog I have ever had. She was abused by her previous owner so when she gets in our way of walking and we accidently step on her, she thinks she's in trouble and starts kissing us. We have to tell her we are sorry so she doesn't run and hide.
