  • The reason for the autobiography quote is that I love how Agatha Christie was one of those 'old-fashioned' crimewriters that cared about protecting the *innocent*.

I believe she lets Poirot say, in the ABC Murders, that the poor first victim was just as important and horrific (even more so) than the third, millionaire, one.

  • @Smallpotato1965 Yes, this quote is really quite nice - it shows Christie's care both as a person and a writer.

  • I'm not sure. I couldn't find it on YouTube

  • For me this is one of the best Poirot's novels. When you first start reading it you think that it's just a murder story "cliché" where people are killed in alphabetic order but in end it turnes out such a different story and the way agatha uses this cliché is just genious.Great review, great youtuber,5*

P.S Sorry about my english..I'm portuguese

  • Elmaninja: Your English is just fine (far better than my Portuguese). Yes the plot is really fascinating and does have that lovely twist to it. If you visit my blog (the url is in the description on the video) you can hit the Google translate button and read it in your language (of course the videos will still be in English). Thanks for the comments. Keep them coming and keep reading Christie!

  • Don't worry about me :D.I love reading and speaking in english and it's a good way for me to practice but sometimes I have some difficulties with sentences construction(well I'm still in High School so I consider my english quite good).Ohh and I will definitely read your blog!(in english cause google translations are awful)

  • That's great! Feel free to leave comments on the blog. I am hoping people will use my blog as a place to share their ideas with each other and get into some good discussions on Christie.

  • An interesting quote from Agatha's fabulous autobiography (p.453):

"It frightens me that nobody seems to care about the innocent. When you read about a murder case, nobody seems to be to be horrified by the picture of, say, a fragile old woman in a small cigarett shop, (snip) being attacked and battered to death (by a young thug). (snip) Nobody seems to go through the agony of the victim - they are only full of pity for the young killer, because of his youth."

  • We're reading this for school right now. I already know who the murderer is cuz i read ahead

  • I just finished this book and it's actually one of the few that I felt was predictable. I didn't figure out who exactly the murder was but I figured out the general idea of it at about the halfway point in the story. The book was well written and very interesting though the ending was a bit disappointing.

  • Matt rocks! He totally rocks!!

  • This is another of my personal favorites. When I read this book I was reminded of some of the episodes from tv shows like CSI and Law and Order where it focuses on a mad killer committing a series of motiveless murders. I saw the film version with David Suchet and I thought it did the book justice. Watch it sometime it's really good. I really liked the character Alexander Bonaparte Cust.

  • This Book is really good i really enjoyed it my favourit death in the movie was of the man who was find dead in cinema :)

  • This was the first one I read, I loved it and enjoyed it.
