On 3rd of November 1975 the first barrel of oil was pumped from the North Sea on to Scotland's shores. It was an event that would change the course of history. This landmark film shows how the modern history of Scotland is intrinsically linked to the black gold being pumped out of the North Sea.

These rich spoiled babyboom farts speak much to easy about the rising costs of production.
We have build our societys on cheap oil (cheap means bellow 15$ a barrel), and allthough there is still allot of that left the overall price of production is on the rise and this will have very nasty effects on our societys since everything depends on oil.

Lets not forgett the new oil we will get from the Falklands and our Coal reserves still left from the 70's. Britain could be a rather wealthy country when fossils fuels start to run out.

Expanding oil extraction off the coast would provide 18bn barrels, enough to supply the US for more than two years. As for Alaska, he said advances in technology meant that oil could be extracted from the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge with "virtually no impact" on the land or wildlife.

George Bush, responding to public alarm over soaring petrol prices, yesterday proposed overturning decades-old bans on drilling for oil off the US coast and in the pristine Alaskan wilderness.

There was, they wanted to drill in the Alaska wildlife refuge (ANWR) in the northwestern corner of the state. There are caribeau and stuff there.
Oil companies wanted to drill there, leftist said no. It'll probably start being drilled in the next 20 years is my guess.

You didn't answer my question.
Also, you have maybe missed the point. ALL of this is tied to the facts that the Westminster Government LIED to Scotland and the UK in order to deny the Scots independence in 1975, and therebye rake in all of the money coming in from the North sea.
There is according to this film 44 years of oil left in the North Sea at the current rate of demand. You may well be very knowledgeable about these things but I am more inclined to trust Hayley Miller from the BBC.

Ah, my mistake. I'm not a US citizen. LIke I said I heard there was some kind of controversy with Bush and conservationist..

Alaska off-shore??? No, sorry that's Louisiana. 100% of Alaska's oil production in in the northern part of the state...on land.
