Please excuse me if I did not get the gist of what you were talking about. No way would I ever live in NYC or near that. Yet I am in Bangkok and after nearly 4 years I am getting out. I will keep my condo here so my Thai family or my daughter from US can use. Again sometimes hard to get in to what is being said. I now have well over 5 years here and known the Thai people for many many years like 40 years. Good luck..

@MrSkycop19511 - You are either replying to the wrong person or failed to grasp my sarcasm directed towards another post. I dont live in NY and I certainly dont want to, just as I dont wish to live in BKK.
If you had read the context of my post you replied to, you'd have realized that I have lived in Thailand more than twice as long as you have. Your comment about wanting to move out of BKK only cements my point to the other poster.

Govt hospitals do not look like five star. Now you have a few that do but the normal people can not afford that. Please be clear!

No they do not welcome the bums, trashy people and perverts you are right!

@Shroomn2hi then just stay in New York. This is Thailand and I have lived here well over 4 years now. I am now retired here, have a condo in Bangkok and now moving up North for a quite life and cleaner air. The people are friendly, you get what you give here. Sure they want your business/money. Don't they in New York and I know about the hospitality up there, drop dead on the street and they step over you.
Stay in New York please.

@Mrcor916 - Agree on this point, the boys seem a little naive here - most newbies draw the same conclusion as they are indeed welcomed with open arms and big smiles... as tourists.
-
@Mrcor916 - OK, well... nothing like New York hospitality, manners, and driving etiquette to represent US culture. Jersey Shore. anyone?
The same can be said about BKK... especially the driving "etiquette" - or lack thereof. Upcountry, at there is at least some semblance of courtesy - I've actually seen folks yield.

@Shroomn2hi So you consider Bangkok not the real Thailand? That's like saying New York City is not the real US or Amsterdam isn't the real Holland. Prostitution is only a tiny part of all the things what Bangkok is about. This is a city of 12 million and it's residents come from all the 76 Thai provinces. Bangkok is a multi-cultural city and a great place to live, believe me. As long as you stay away from the backpack ghetto of Banglampuh
I'm an American and I Love ThaiLand more than any other country in the WorLd!! Love the Thai People, the culture, the food, the hospitality, the smiles, the friendliness, the PaRtY and so much more!! Those who claim Thailand is all about cheap whores and bars... well, that says more about those people than Thailand. All developing and most developed countries have these areas. But away from the tourist and sex areas, Thailand is beautiful - countless waterfalls, hill-tribes, forest, hiking, rafting, etc, as the boys in the vid say. Then there is the exotic culture, that if you're adventurous, if quite fascinating. Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket are not representative of upcountry Thailand.
