this is very good, I like the instrumentation and Stokowski's innovativeness. I really appreciate Stokowski's attempt to make the most perfect piece ever composed enjoyable for the entire orchestra. I see it as a valiant effort, but I feel like this task is impossible. Chaconne is my most favorite piece in the world, but I feel that no arrangement can do it real justice. This just doesn't bring tears to my eyes like the original. Nonetheless I cherish anything or anybody that appreciates Bach :)

Stokowski isn't the only one to have noticed this Bach's masterpiece, it's quite a popular piece, you know. ;-)

As Mahler as this arrangement sounds, I feel that any solo instrument, be it the violin, piano or guitar, gives a more satisfying performance. I've got very mixed feelings about this.

This is probably one of the Greatest works of Bach and Stokowski recognized this with his genius and did a very reverent job in this transcription. Even Mozart used the positive cycle of a fifth in his works.

Bach was a God. I studied his Cello Suites and Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin with the late Asher G. Zlotnik Ph. D. Dr. Zlotnik was a genius of the first order and taught me how the Root progressions went on a positive cycle of a fifth. The integration of this positive root progression throughout the Chaconne is unbelievable.

That ending...with the cello quartet...omg...really struck me...like out of the darkness....its so amazing. such a visionary stokowski was...i had no idea a piece like this work in this way. bach - god.

This is such an amazing masterwork. I have this performed by Perlman and, Milstein, and while it is beautiful, Stokowski's transcription is so lush and full that it makes the solo performances appear to be lacking.
