  • haha the signal being compressed through the mic, then again through whatever was used in the sample, then through the firechainer or fairchild, then through youtube, then through my desktop speakers? too much compression to tell. I'll tell from experience, firechainer does a damn good job for free.

  • @joshgura yes. fairchild is probably the most renown compressors ever. Firechainer is a freeware emu that actually does a damn good job.

  • Surely, an already-compressed video/audio format like Youtube is never going to show up any of the subtle differences?

  • @NimbleWitz by using the arrow keys on the keyboard, when you solo a track, you can go up and down on the tracks. So here he sets both VST to match then switches between tracks with the solo button activated.... the red >[S]< is the SOLO button.

  • How is the engineer A/Bing like that in Cubase. It looks like an instantaneous and gapless transition.

    Is there a keyboard shortcut?

  • dude you gotta drive the compressor , i can't hear a diffrence

  • who wants to talk about what kind of effect this is? is it a compressor?

  • Our brains do a good job of convincing us that the more expensive one sounds better, that's basic psycho acoustics 101. If you listen with an un-biased ear, they both sound almost identical.

  • I'm glad to have heard this test after having downloaded and used antress' modern series! Yes, UAD is better sounding, but my pocket suggests that Antress series is quite enough well sounding.

  • i recognize this vocal from Lynn Fuston's 3D Pre Amp CD
