Starting with Windows 8, It is now possible to have a user profile and most of the data to be synced across multiple computers if they all are used using the same Windows Live ID.

You can either connect a local Windows 8 Account to Live ID or just create another user account and use Windows Live ID for that.

You can Sync :

Personalized settings like Colors, Background, and Lock Screen, Windows 8 Themes i.e. Background Images, Sounds, Event Sounds, Ease of Access : Settings for Speech Recognition, magnifier, Language Preferences, Keyboard, display language, Windows Apps Settings. Remember not all settings can be synced, only whichever is configured by the app, Taskbar, Windows Explorer

  • On the other hand, microsoft says they are working for empowering a new future, I would rather still trust google over microsoft, I hope they can add a google service or third party service to manage user accounts, that is truly giving the power in your hands to decide where you want your storage, even drop box would be good. Just not windows live, of all things, I, urm, am very leery of it.

  • I could see this being a huge hit for Microsoft however I could also see this as being a huge security risk as windows live, is the most spam targeted network with next to no filters, bad idea if you are worried about privacy as I am, as I have no intention of using windows live to back my settings up. I think that the idea is okay, but I definitely would not use a Microsoft powered server for anything personal, as it has been proven to cause problems stability and reliability wise.
