Interesting that you opted for collision on the PC and NPCs. In my game engine, I initially had collision physics between game characters, but it made it tough to walk around since you'd always bump into the enemies and they would block each other. Then I looked at a lot of old beat 'em up games and they all seemed to not have any collision between characters.

It's currently on the side right now as I'm finishing up a JavaFx game for Facebook. But once I'm done with that I'll be going back to work on it.
