Depending on how you plan to get to the beach and you can't spend all you're time there. The beach is the only good place around here. There are bits and parts of nice places but if you drive far enough you'll run into the real boring (as hell) neighborhoods.

I don't know how old you are, but that area is really NOT for younger people. There is nothing to do, but that IS THE POINT! The beaches are quiet and fabulous. The economy has hit the area very hard, so not as many restaurants. No wild parties, for sure, on the beach. But it is a very nice area.

I´ll stay about 10 months in Ft. Myers in frame of a Cultural Exchange Programm for students, Iam so excited!^^

I was just there last weekend and it was really nice, if a bit spread out. Beats Germany any day though. I couldn't wait to go to the Ale house and have their Onion rings and Chicken Zingers.. I came home happy anyhow.
