  • do u know any bird banders that would let me watch and maybe help them? i love birds and want to band them. when i'm an adult, i want to be an ornithologist. i live in gardendale alabama. if u know anyone, please respond.

  • @cinderheart14: Sorry, I don't know any bird banders in Alabama. Find bird watchers; that is a way to start. Visit the eBird website or Audubon Society website for a chapter near you. Good luck!

  • How does bird banding benefit birds?

  • @RedPelerin

It doesn't benefit birds per se; nor harm them either, if done properly. But the knowledge obtained this way may be helpful for preservation, especially of those species that are in danger.

  • i really want to buy a mist net : )

  • @Calphool222

You need special training for trapping and banding birds. You could join a bird watching group and find more about it and eventually help with bird banding. It is a wonderful experience and a way of helping wildlife.

  • @cinderheart14 I really want to band birds when I turn 18. I already try to trap non-natives to just look at.

  • @bmoisset The AviTrap was designed specifically as an alternative to mist nets. It takes the human touch and entanglement factor out of the mist net capture process by capturing directly to a holding bag. It doesn't take the place of mist nets but it does provide another means of humane capture and handling for banding.

  • neat
