no, a compressor bypass valve(CBV) recirculates the boost. A blow off valve vents the boost outside the pipe.

or if you want to hear it loud floor it and shift regularly instead of the no lift shift. when i done that to hear it mine sounded like a sharp squeak when i first got it but now it sounds like the normal release.

i just bought an 08 ss on sept. 19 and it does have one it doesnt sound when using the no lift shift because your never closing your throttle body. if you are in gear but not to high rpm's push the gas til the whistle of the turbo gets pretty loud then let of the gas and you should hear it.

i got one of the 08 turbo cobalts but cant find a BOV anywhere. Where'd you find the one you put on this car? Most places just tell me that they haven't done testing for this car yet. And I've been messing around with starts in the launch control vs. regular but are you saying that having the launch control one enables the boost pressure feature?
-
im guessing this has a diverter
-
the 08 has a new feature that allowes boost to stay up durring full throtle shifts this means with this feature activated you won here the blow off valve because its not wasting boost.
Alot of new neat features!

the BOV recuriclates into the intake path. its verry quiet.
-
turbo charged cars don't need a blow off valve.
-
last time i checked any turbo engine has to have a blow off valve...
-
a blow off valve works when you close the throttle body plate (aka let off the gas)
It has a blow off valve. You just don't hear it on this run, but it's definitely there, and you hear it every time you shift, as long as the RPM is high enough.
